I suck at golf, but if all NEA events are like the topless day this past weekend I'd be in. Well depending on the date 8)

I can't hit a ball to save my life unless it is mini golf, so I would just hold people up unless we had a misfits team or something. I would rather drive the cart or be a caddy. lol I think I even have a cutesie golf outfit somewhere....

Thats the nice thing about a tourney with a shotgun start.

Its all about the rules, most team tourney's I've played were about the fun and not competition and its reflected in the rules.

Mini-golf wheeling for an NEa fundraiser.

I'm sure I could make arrangements.

Mini Golf would be LOT easier logistically, you think there's any place on Cape that CCJC could host it?

Really real golf tourneys take quite a bit of planning, too bad we don't have some executive female-type person on board that's really good with planning events. :(

I'm much better at mini golf  Could you imagine trying to get 100+ people through 18 holes of putt-putt in a day

Can we use ATVs as golf carts and limit all play to the rough? :D

Can I bring my own cart?

The thing with golf tournaments is most people who play them don't care about the cause. So we don't need 100 wheelers who like golf, we just need 100 golfers who like golf.
The other thing is they get pricey. I play in 3 or 4 a year and they are all between $90 - $100 for golf, the cart, and lunch. Then on top of that you need to have prizes etc.
they make a lot of money but you need a pretty hefty bank roll to start with.
I ran a mini golf tournament when I worked for Applebee's. Our store vs another. Every 4some had to have themed costume's and there were prizes for that as well as low score, high score, and most holes in one.
We did a mini golf place during the day during the week before kids got of school and it was hella cheap to rent the hole thing for a couple hours. Of course that was different because being in the restaurant biz we could get a week day off pretty easy.

I was thinking just a friendly game, not a tourny.

Just a real, relaxed, golf game.

Oh, Hell ya I'm up for golf whenever.
Paul was talking about a tourney though.

Well, a fundraiser really. Keeping score goes without saying. Golf is ALWAYS friendly. :paul:

I did some research last night about planning a tourney and pretty much came to the conclusion of what J said...we would need more cashflow than we have right now to do a real Golf tourney. The mini golf might be a more attainable goal.

I said awhile back we should do a bowl-a-thon too.

Maybe a couple clubs could pick up these ideas and run with them.... :poke: The fundraisers don't always have to be wheeling.

I got two good friends that are Golf Pro's and have managed courses/shops/tourneys before. Played on the HS team with them. I could tap them for some honest feasability.

There is a course here in HIllsborough, there is a nice 9 hole course in Peterborough 10-15 minutes from Field and Forest....New England Country Club IIRC. Steve and I used this as the Trail CHallenge HQ in '99 and 2000

Call them up, see if you can get an idea of what it might take to get 5-8 foursomes together for some Friday morning. We can kiss for this year and if we get a good showing with the experiment we'll go full boar next year.

Tell them your floating the idea of a tournament, but for the first year you may just get a group together for a fundraiser to see what the interest is. Something like that.

Is the Pat's peak course public or private? We could golf then wheel.

Most all really real golf tourneys take place during weekdays, mondays actually. It's the rich, snobby guys way of saying "yea, I can take time off whenever I want"

Ask Jay, he's a rich snob.

My point on thinking of Monadnock....BTW the cost for a group of 4 would $16 per person for greens fee and $16 for the cart to play 9 holes on Friday morning

Monadnock is only an executive course. Par is 29. We need a full course.

What about Crotched Mtn golf course

never been but I can check rates

Crotched Mtn is my favorite course. The rates are very reasonable, especially since its so nice.

I would say no, anyone should be able to wheel.

I like to play here: http://www.bngc.net/

The green fee is $71 for 18 holes. The carts have GPS and LCD menu screens to order food & drinks.

Thats the longest 6500 yard course I've ever played.
I walked it once. Never again. It's like 1/4 mile from green to tee. And the last three holes are cut into the mtn.

Why would you walk it when they have pimpin' carts to wheel?

And mountain would suck for the ricochet.

I've been to Blackstone, very suprised its only $71.

Depends on how I feel. Sometimes I like walking. If I get a cart I prefer to ride b!tch. My grandfather owned a golf cart when I was in my teens so I got all my goofing off done then.

So today I took a spin into the Weare golf course...http://www.oakbrookgolf.com/ Yeah, if the course you play golf on has a double wide for a clubhouse...... There was an Escalade in the parking lot but that could be for show. IDK...there were people there playing.
