FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 18, 2009
HILLSBORO, NH, November 14, 2009 - The Northeast Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs, Inc. (NEA4WDC) hosted their annual Fall Poker Run Benefit for the Hillsborough District Food Pantry. Participants donated over 200 pounds of non-perishable food items and raised $325 in cash donations.

"It was very generous of the Association to make this donation and it will serve over 300 families currently receiving help through the Pantry," stated Norma Hubbard, manager of the Hillsborough District Food Pantry. "The Pantry is seeing 120 plus families every Tuesday for help with their weekly groceries."

The 75 participants traveled un-maintained Class VI roads in the greater Hillsborough area in approximately 30 different purpose-built, street registered vehicles, with some coming from as far as Cape Cod to enjoy the day. Attendees followed a predetermined route to designated checkpoints where they were given the next card for their hand. At the end of the day, the person with the best poker hand received $325.

Scott Hatch, the NEA4WDC Vice President of Environmental Affairs, co-organizer of this year's event, and a Hillsborough resident said; "I felt it was important for our organization that uses the resources in the area, to support the community that brings us so much enjoyment. On a personal level, I fell on some hard times last year and had to live in a Veteran's Home. Now that I am back on my feet, I wanted to give something back."

E-mailed to six NH'ish papers this morning. I'll update if it is going to be included in any of them.

If anyone has contacts with other New England papers, please feel free to submit this. I can e-mail you the original file.

Just curious, was teh Hillsborough paper one of them?>

Never mind...just checked my email....was there no way to include pics?

It is typically easier to get a submission without pics but if any of them respond to me I can ask then.

I hit the ones I could think of and had time for. If anyone has more, please feel free to take the initiative and make the submissions.

It was nothing for me, really.

Suggestion for next year though. Let's ask a reporter from the Hillsboro newspaper to ride along!
