--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday I went skiing at Pats Peak and it was a beautiful day...although it would have been better if we had some of the storm....about 1:30 I was flying down an easy trail when my tip caught a snow snake, I went head first, and my left pole planted bending my thumb back, but it didn't hurt too bad...I rarely use poles when I ski, only on the really hard stuff. I did a few more runs after that but I was done. Its been awhile since I've taken a spill, let alone a high speed crash....damn snow snakes!

I woke up Monday and my thumb was purple, stiff, and in a lot of pain.I went to the VA where they determined it was broken but I needed to see an orthopedic hand specialist in Jamaica Plain/Boston today. Manchvegas VA through there was a chance of ligament damage.

I went to the specialist today and it took all of 2 seconds to determine I need surgery. The spot where the lateral ligament attaches to the bone on my left thumb broke away. I have surgery on January 8th where they insert a screw into the bone to reattach the ligament....looks like my skiing is done for the year.

While its only day surgery I am not sure how I will be feeling Saturday so I may or may not be able to make the meeting

Funny, giving Scott the thumbs up! LOL

Personally, I think he's screwed.

Seriously, that sucks Scott, but you'll heal up quick. The screw really does a good job. I have two in my right foot. I opted not to have them removed once it healed. They were going to give me a local and unscrew them with a Makita!!

Especially the LEFT thumb up! On a serious note, hopefully surgery is successful and heals quickly.

At least it was his left hand. He probably does all of his favorite things with his right hand.

Come on Scott - you can come up with a better story than that.

Anyway, hope the surgery comes out OK. Get well soon!

People get lost in J.P. Never to be seen again. Took me six weeks to get out of there in 72.

Is Steve still there?
