Please submit your nomination with a brief paragraph outlining the person's qualification to Jay at spyderghel@comcast.net

Pleas share this with your clubs.

Jay,
I am happy to write this letter of recommendation for Bob Butler. Over that time I have had many opportunities to interact with him and get to know his behavioral ways. He takes the 4 wheeling community seriously and puts a great deal of effort into any endeavor that he undertakes.

Bob was a member of RIOHVA in RI, and presently the RI land chair for the NEA. Bob is also on the RI trails advisory committee. He recently worked on a clean-up at management land in RI as well. Bob is a great ambassador for the sport, always looking out for new members, and making sure they aren't overlooked.

I have been a Jeep owner for many years, and Bob stands out in my mind as true gentleman, and dedicated to the sport. Bob is a hard worker and does not hesitate to take the initiative in situations requiring a leadership role. This speaks to the work ethic he applies to all that he undertakes. Therefore, I am happy to recommend him for 2010 Shane Beard Award.

Please feel free to contact me should you require further information.

Sincerely,

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd like to nominate Mike White for the 2010 Shane Beard Award.

Mike has worked tirelessly over the last year, and for many years before that, at promoting the image and access of 4wd vehicles in the New England region. He annually coordinates a very successful charity run that benefits the Western Massachusetts Food Bank program and also the annual Go Topless Day which raises donations for the NEA. Mike has worked hard to preserve access to public trails like MaBell. And as President of JonFund over the last year Mike was able to accomplish a long time goal of the club to purchase it's own private property for the purpose of 4wd access and education.

Even though Mike works, sleeps and eats Jeeps; he is also a caring father and husband and his priorities will always be family first - Jeeps close second. I think that Mike embodies the spirit that Shane set forth and would make a well deserving recipient for the Shane Beard Award.

______________________________________________________________________

I'm nominating Russ Cook, member Deep Woods Extreme, Inc. (grocery_getter on most forums)

If I were to go through the list of criteria for the award, Russ meets all of them. Russ has struggled with various strains of cancer for pretty much all of his life. At times this caused him to put aside his love of wheeling to focus on his health and personal goals. Yet, he has found time and energy over the years to serve in executive roles for Deep Woods Extreme and assist in trail maintenance/event activities as much as his levels of strength will allow him to do so. Russ has assisted in various mapping activities related to the NEA4WDC Map VI program when his time permits him to do so. While he has a strong passion for wheeling and promoting responsible use, he also has a great desire to be all he can for his family. He coaches his son's t-ball team, he's writing a book to leave as a legacy for his son, and he participates in several community-related events-mostly benefiting cancer related charities. His life and support from the 4WD community mirror those displayed by and for Shane Beard, so it just seems fitting that Russ be considered a candidate for the award.

As we say every year, please give serious consideration to who you nominate. Just because someone "does alot" may not mean they fit into each of the criteria. The past recipients are a super good example of people who exemplified some form of each of the assets that Shane represented.

Congratulations Bob. I think I speak on the behalf of all of New England Jeepz members when I add there could be no person more desrving for this award. With out any doubt Bob is one of the most active members and accomplished so much for our 4 wheeling community and this sport in general.

We thank you for your efforts Bob and look forward to working with you as well as wheeling with you for many productive years to come.
