Public service request in Washington, NH area

Postby Eric » Fri Oct 07, 2016 10:36 am

Folks,

We recieved the following e-mail:
Greetings:

On October 25 and 26 I and other family members will travel to NH to take my father in law to his land on Mt Lovewell. He is nearing the end of his life and this will be his last visit. The road up the mountain is gravel, but not paved. Every rental 4wd I have looked at does not permit one to drive off of the paved roadway.

Do you know of anyone willing to rent a 4wd for use off road. No hooning, just up a gravel road.

Alternatively; would any of your members be interested in taking him up the mountain? What would they charge? It would be only for a morning or afternoon, not the whole day, not both days.

If no one is interested, I understand. I had to ask.

Thank you, Dirk

Is anybody able to help? NOTE that this might be a potential land opportunity as well . . .

Are these friends of the association? I may be able to assist with this but would like a secondary rig there as well. If for some reason I'm unable to get the time off I'd be willing to loan my rig out to someone I know or that can be vouched for. Only request in that instance would be that the jeep comes back with a full tank and any major breaks are repaired.

Another question. Would it be better to have a stockish height vehicle instead?

The guy who wrote the e-mail is travelling from New Zealand! I get the impression his father-in-law is local.

My first guess would be that the property is accessed via Lovell Mt Rd which is most likely class vi:

Contact Dan, Stephen hasn't lived there in about 10 years. :paul:

The roads were listed on the loops I created around the Homestead. I haven't been up there in a couple of years but its class VI highway that a near stock vehicle can traverse. The local snowmobile club maintains the road for their groomer. The south side of hte road is more steep but there is lots of traction.

If someone could PM, or post the contact info that would be helpful.
I would like to speak to whoever is in charge so we can be clear on the details, and what exactly the plan is before I drive 3 hours north.
It would be my pleasure to drive the older gentleman, and his family up the MT.

Greetings Chuck:

Thank you for responding and your kind offer. In the interim my sister in law has found someone to take us up the road.

I sincerely appreciate your kindness and wish you the best.
