Old Florida RD Fund Change

Postby Scott Hatch » Wed Jan 16, 2008 9:24 am

On January 5, 2008 the delegates of the Northeast Association of 4WD Clubs (NEA4WDC) unanimously voted to move all monies within the Old Florida Road Fund to the newly established NEA4WDC Trails Fund. This new fund can and will still be available to be used for Old Florida Road but, the money will also be available for other public locations that are used for 4x4s and trails on private land.

This fund is being transfered as there has been little activity with Old Florida Road however we continue to face access battles in other areas within our region. The projects funded by the Old Florida Road fund and the fund's very existence appears to have influenced the state's current position regarding Old Florida Road. It is felt by the Delegates of the NEA4WDC that a location-specific fund is no longer needed.

As part of this decision the delegates are placing a deadline of March 1st at 12:01am for donors to object to this transfer of funds. If in fact you wish to object, please send an email objecting to donations@nea4wd.org and the pro-rated donation amount (amount minus expenses + interest for donations over $250 to date on Old Florida Road) will remain in the Old Florida Road fund. If we do not receive any objections, the total balance will be transfered from the Old Florida Road Fund to the Trails Fund and the Old Florida Road Fund will be closed out.

If you do not object to the transfer, NO ACTION is necessary!!

Not sure if you donated? Check below:

Hello Scott,

Could you expand on this? Or if it's discussed in a thread elsewhere on this site, could you point me toward that discussion? I would really like to know more about what type and the extent of influence the organization and the funding mechanisms in place had on state decisionmakers.

I find that to be a remarkable and fantastic achievement in and of itself, and it plays to the position that marketing and public information/dissent can and occasionally does have a political outcome.

Any information would be appreciated -- here or offline to: timothy.wagner@ch2m.com

Thank you very much and congratulations to the newly-elected leadership.
