Local organization with similar goals to ours

Postby BILLYjp2 » Sat Mar 17, 2012 9:05 pm

I recently stumbled across another local organization that looks to share alot in common with the NEA. The Massachusetts Beach Buggy Association (MBBA) is fighting for the right to drive on Mass beaches and faces many of the same obstacles that we do. According to their website they are also actively involved in local politics.

It seems like they would be a great group to align ourselves with.

Good idea. They had a booth at the New England Saltwater Fishing Show in Providence last weekend. At the time my mind was on fishing and I never even thought to make a connection. I would not be surprised if CCJC has members that also belong to the beach buggy association.

I love the ocean. Wheelin' on the beach isn't something I am very interested in doing but it's nice to know there is a group out there supporting this activity for the times I would like to go down there to grab some nice photos of my Jeep on the beach.

There are a few, but it's funny, most of the "beach" people are not wheeling people and vice versa. Every so often there will be a posting about a MBBA beach clean up on our forum, I have some friends that were members years ago but don't know too much about the group. For the most part you have to live in the town the beach is in to gain access (for a permit fee of course), If you want to drive on a beach from out of town it usually involves paying a huge fee, if it's allowed at all. Even after the permit fees, once the plovers nest, all bets are off. I'm pretty happy those birds stay away from the woods...

I say we let evolution run its course. The birds stupid enough to nest in the sand and get run over will be weeded out of the gene pool.

The beach buggy association is much more about surf fishing than wheeling. They have turned airing down/up into a science. I see our main synergy with their group at the level of state politics.

But it would have been great if they can help with the goal of NEA.
