PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR CLUB MEMBERS -

OHV Registration laws have been in effect for 4x4s since 2010.

Here is a link - https://www.mass.gov/atv-and-snowmobile-registration

Currently, all first time registrations are being completed by mail.

A lot of people have had a lot of issues getting their vehicles registered, and that includes myself.

I am making an offer here to bridge a gap between NEA4WD members registering and Massachusetts Environmental Police to continue improving their process for 4x4 registration.
email me at president@mohawk4x4.org
Subject: OHV Reg
Data I need to help:
1. Name
2. Phone number
4. Description of problem
5. Please follow up with the resolution, and positive or negative feedback.

MEP is committed to making this process as easy as possible, and this is how I can help -
1. I will document the problem and email two to three contacts in the Dept of Energy and Environmental Services and Massachusetts Environmental Police to fix the problem from the top down. The Registration Bureau will call or email you.
2. The Massachusetts Off-Highway Vehicle Advisory Committee can review issues and "advise" corrective actions.
3. The goal is to help refine the process for street registered vehicles and purpose built 4WD buggies, save ancient roads and provide more 4x4 trail opportunities.

I'll add if it's a tubed chassis rig homemade no vin. they take any vin ie off the motor. and verify its not stolen. then assign a vin to the rig. did it on my father's buggy. was very easy.

Trying to figure out registering a buggy. What documentation is all needed to do so? Other than the registration form? Do I really need to show proof of sales tax?

They want proof that sales tax is paid where needed.
You may find your project is exempt because it's built of all used parts, but they will need a serial number from part of the chassis or engine.
NETRA has a lot of race mx bikes that get registered but are similar to buggies.

I paid the "sales Tax' separately thru this ST-6 form online https://www.mass.gov/info-details/sales ... axconnect-

How'd it go with proof of sales tax?

Since I’m using the motor out of my old YJ, I used the VIN and had the title/previous registration.
