And that in itself is another problem..where to begin!?

Greetings Andrea,
I my self am fairly new to the ohv world (legal that is) 8) .
I took my stock tj out for the RIOHVA 1st anual back in november on balding street tires, I had almost no problems till the end when my oil pan got hung up but i was still able to drive her home & no leaks.
I met a lot of extreamly frindly & helpfull people, mostly from
http://northeastjeep.org/ &
http://www.freedomtrailriders.org/ .
As far as modifacations, theres alot thats so simple a chimp w/a wrench can do, anything more difficult the clubs do wrench fests to help & teach each other but if the funds are there then take the shop suggestions of these guys
have fun & wheel legal
hope to see you & everyone else on the trails soon

Enough with Andrea!! I am here now!

Hi all, My name is Zach and I am a Jeepaholic
Anyways, I know many of you... But I am here now becuase I am possibly the upcoming Trails Director for NEJEEP.

So it would be helpful to have access to the CT area as well as anything else that Trail Directors need/have???

Thanks all

See you on the trails.

Wow--thanks for the warm welcome and all of your help! I will definitely take your suggestions and look into joining a club to start.

I don't want to modify too much, mostly because my Jeep is my only vehicle and I'm already cringing about the less-than-optimal gas mileage. So I know bigger tires will just make that worse. I also don't want to damage the underneath on a trail. I keep reminding myself how fun it is to drive and somehow that makes me feel like the gas-mileage isn't the worst..

What are the rules for driving on the beach? Is it totally forbidden? I know of a beach in Dennis, MA that allows it, but not sure if that's a special case.

Looking forward to talking with you all more and joining one of your groups soon.

Thanks again for your help!

Go on the Mass Beach Buggy Association website for all the info. I can tell you way back when I had my first 4x4 and many beaches were open. The greenies have gooten most of the beaches closed to vehicles.

Oh yeah, Andrea stay away from the guy named Paul.... :paul:

You can get away with more aggressive tires and not necessarily have to go bigger....although bigger is better. And there are plenty of trail you can run with little worry about substantial damage. Of course at anytime on a trail, if there's something you don't want to do or try, a good club will respect that and not force the issue. You can either take a go-around or park your Jeep and hop in with someone else.

You can still run on the Beach on the Cape. One of the beaches in RI also allows it. You need to have certain equipment and special permits.

P.S. Freedom TrailRiders is already planning a beach run this summer.

Hi Chris,

Welcome to our humble little home. Unfortunately the areas that you wish to gain access to are restricted to the members of the NEA. These forums are the working areas for the NEA's land access teams. Information about various land issues is often posted in the public sections of this forum and we'd be more than happy to discuss them with you.

BTW per Paul Regish I did add you to the OFR email list.

We are always accepting new clubs as members. Membership is only $5 per member and gains access onto NEA land as well as representation on a state, regional, and national level. For more information on membership

Hi, Tina here...
I don't have any club affiliation yet, but I have been hanging around with the crazy people of Freedom Trail Riders lately. :D

We will be starting our own club too within the next few months.

I was just wondering if I could have access to just the MA section for now.

From the front page on NEWJO's website.

North East Willys Jeeps Organization is a family based Jeep enthusiast club with interests in Jeep restoration and recreation as well as general Jeep appreciation. Our membership is always open and we invite all those who share in our interests to come and check us out. Although Jeep ownership is not a requirement, an appreciation of them is. NEWJO welcomes all Willys/Jeeps and in fact...all 4x4 vehicles from stock original to trail modified. Heck, you don't even NEED a vehicle to be a member and have fun!

HI Mitch and welcome aboard.

Just a general FYI, until someone posts interest I do not grant access because for abvious reasons I have no idea who that person is. If someone wants access, is a member of an NEA club, then all they have to do is request this.
