Smith & Wesson and the Connecticut River Watershed Council
National Public Lands Clean Up Day
Saturday, Oct 4th

Bring pickups, jeeps with trailers or ATVs with trailersthere will be a cookout to feed volunteers for lunch and all volunteers are entered in a raffle to win a S&W Sigma40 pistol, even if you arent an employee.. i just double checked to be sure.

Background:
last year and earlier in 08 i fought and fought to get a permit from masswildlife for groups like us to enter and clean wildlife management areas (WMAs) .. and was denied on the grounds that they would not allow modified 4x4 vehicles into a WMA under any circumstance..

HOWEVER.. Smith and Wesson was the one group that had been allowed to do this, and since I work there, i found out it took some considerable political muscle to get this permission. Well, they are doing it again, and are looking for volunteers.

This would be a very rare and exceptional opportunity for the 4x4 organizations to make some big friends, as well as show this green council that we arent all bad.

i need to know who is showing as a definate in order to give an accurate headcount for the food. please disseminate to youre clubs, anyone definately committed can email me at mike_belben@yahoo.com

This is basically my back yard. I know every trail like the back of my hand.

posted on jf, but I had to edit it a little.

I would like to say count me in, but I need family time. If I can, I will. My neighbor said I could use his trailer.

Any info on dumpsters? Is S&W providing them?

X2, although I was probably Pinktaco's age the last time I was in there, but I'd love a chance to wheel, errr clean up the plains.

So let me get this right, we'll be able to drive the trails in our offroad vehicles?

Not to rain on the parade but please remember that this is first and foremost a clean-up, not a wheeling event. Its not being organized by the NEA so as always we wil need to be very mindful of the image we give to the EPOs and others.

I was going to go up to the EP station right on the border of the plains last year and see if I could get access on a 4wheeler or truck to go clear the trails before the snowfall but never did.

Only got a few pics since I dont have a big card for my camera yet.

We were the only group that really traveled far from the Riding Club. The others were only there till alittle after noon and took off. By the time we got back the second time they were all leaving. Me and Mike went back out after everyone left and got another load of junk.
