All Things Jeep asked JonFund to host this event and we are. With additional insurance, expected 'sold out' attendance levels, some changes are needed, but with as little change as possible to respect the tradition of the last two years.
Norman had always found a way to donate proceeds to the NEA4WD and other land access groups, even when there were no event proceeds. I'd like to uphold the tradition into the future of keeping this as a fund raiser for NEA4WD, too.

To pay for some event costs with a 600 Jeep event, there will be a parking fee of about $10. Surplus after costs going to JonFund's Land Fund and NEA4WD.

Yes, it will be at the same location.
Yes, we will spend more time on our little trail this year before the event.
Yes, we will have more rocks.
Yes, we will have burgers and dogs, maybe chili. ;)
Yes, the Port-a-Potties will be delivered this year.
No, the water did not get any shallower.

There's some changes that have been made to the landscape there with more field space being used for farming.

Jeep Rally and NEA4WD - please send your booths!

I'll have more details soon.

Anyone that volunteered last year will find their help just as valuable this year, with improved 'shifts' and volunteer care this year.

The big decision... What color shirts will volunteers get stuck with this year?

With all that Jean must have on her plate now it's cool that JF is stepping up to hold the reins on this event.

The Rally will be there with a booth! Anything I can do to help Mike, don't hesitate to ask.

I was explaining to Scott Hatch via pm that this year is going to be a bear. Coordinating this to be a positive for JonFund, for the NEA4WD (some proceeds have always been donated to the NEA4WD, and that tradition is VERY importnant to All Things Jeep and myself and of course, JF) and especially All Things Jeep is not an easy task.

I will have more detailed participation details shortly.

I'm sorry about bumper stickers at the meeting. I had them in my center console and totally forgot, probably because Meg and I were racing on the highway at speeds approaching the speed limit. lol

So, like I said - it's all Meg's fault. :P (No, we weren't really racing)

Meg, too late to make deals you already agreed to help about 100 times and I already went mini skirt shopping cuz nothing I had was working with my nails.

NEA4WD Member Club Booths ONLY for free, including provisional members. With 27 or 28, maybe 29 clubs that might potentially want space... Well, membership has its privileges. (I'll say it again, NEA4WD and Jeep Rally are also welcome!!)

There just plain and simple has to be a $10 entrance fee. Maybe even selling tickets online first, because we have a very strict limit on 600 vehicles. Working on goodie bags to commence soon.

For volunteers, I know there's a core group of people outside of JonFund I can rely on and I'll improve volunteer conditions over last year, as well as JF members. MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THIS FUND RAISER FOR BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCESS.

Just Saying...

Postby All Things Jeep » Tue Apr 06, 2010 2:36 pm

Just saying Mike W. is doing an unbelievable job making this all happen while I get to sit back and relax and watch. ATJ will be there with plenty of tees, enthusiasm, Jeeps and cameras. But Mike is really making it happen. Thank you Mike and everyone for keeping this event alive!

Norman would be very proud!

I did last year and would be interested again.

I haven't checked the new sign ups from the last 24 hours, but some NEA4WD people will need to register to set up a booth and conduct the raffle. We (All Things Jeep) solicited all of our vendors and suppliers for raffle items to donate to the association and I also solicited the vendors that are coming for an NEA raffle donation. We got some really cool stuff, but no one to raffle it off? No one to man your booth? No one to bring A4A XJ?
SPACE IS LIMITED, if we're sold out then we're sold out.

VOLUNTEERS:
Just wanted to reiterate that if you are interested in volunteering PLEASE send an e-mail to:GTD@jonfund.net
The e-mail should contain "Volunteer" in the subject line.
Please include your NAME, SHIRT SIZE, SHIFT (9 - 11:30; 11:30 - 2; 2 - 4:30) and the team that suits you best (parking or trail).
If you already have your ticket, which is numbered, include your ticket # in the e-mail.
Volunteers will get a ticket for the volunteer raffle as well as a door prize raffle ticket and staff shirt.

Nevermind, I'm not going to take the bait for once, especially in a public area.
I know J has been trying to coordinate something for at least a month now so we can cover this in addition to like four other events we are working on.

I didn't realize booths had to preregister as well. I thought it was just volunteers. I'll try and get an accurate count for us and take care of it Monday.

How many do you have preregistered so far?

I thought that the limit of 600 was for parking. I had already talked to you abouth there being a Jeep at the Rally booth so didn't think we had to pre-register. I have no issue paying the $10 when I get there but don't want to end up not setting up a booth because we can't get in.

As we get closer to the date, some things are changing that are out of my control, and I get more limitations and expectations placed on me.

I apologize.

Controlling parking is one thing I have to do.

The property's business is being leased by a corporation, papers signed this past week, and with it have come some issues.

Come ride the adult sized Jeep pedal cars on their own obstacle course.
Win good stuff.
Buy a raffle ticket from NE4Wi for their car trailer.
Play Rock Band.
Get a free chocolate covered croissant.

C'mon, I'm trying to make this a win/win for everybody and we're bringing 1,500 people with Jeeps that might buy raffle tickets to support the NEA. and .

Thank you, Tammy. Aside from revisions, I'm (we're, more appropriately) still finalizing plans with vendors and attractions and chasing down a few items.

The rock garden is DONE and it is great. It's not like the DWE Truck show or Boulder Bash gardens, but it is WAY better than last year's. It is elevated like a stage and requires good spotting for 33-35s. A front end loader will be on hand for extractions that need it.
We tamed part of last year's harder options to make them more stocker friendly (at least in the a.m.) and made some stocker friendly sections appear more challenging, but we also added the very non-stocker friendly Heaven and Hell Hill and the rock garden.

I'm very excited about Jeep off road pedal cars in two sizes. One for kids and one for bigger kids, age 5 to 99. With adjustable seating and steering, a roll bar, a full size pedal car spare tire and swing front axle, these are sure to be a big hit for family entertainment. We added a tres cool 100x60 off road demonstration area for these. For more info:
http://www.allthingsjeep.com/go-kart-jeep-wrangler.html

Please come and make this a success. The potential for future events, like Food Bank Fund Drives, 4x4 101 courses, recovery training is huge. The new owners are accustomed to large events with 25,000 people and very willing to help with hosting these events. This one will be like a pilot run to them.

Good times even in the rain. Definitely some exciting moments..like the idiot who should've just paid the $10 to enter, Scott Hatch letting his Marinedness shine through-lol, and obviously the delicious cookies. I am not 100% sure, there's some things in the air, but estimated attendance based on turned in tickets and cash flow was 385 Jeeps. It could be lower, but not higher.

My friend Alex and I got the whole trail cleaned up and recovered all the borrowed signs from the NEA and our custom trail signs we made from the blanks. THANK YOU NEA4WD!

I had an OK time, I didn't like the staff much though...they told me my rig wouldn't make it up anything that I had to do the "mild" portion.

I'm seeing a lot of these types of post in the JK forums. Some talking about being turned away from trying something because of the lack of lockers. 35" mud tires on a 4" lifted JK turned away? I wasn't there, so I have no first hand knowledge. Just a whole bunch of guys sound like they are turned off from joining clubs because of this day. They didn't like the constant JK "minivan" bashing.

There is one JK owner member of an NEA member club egging them on to join the clubs to prove the JK haters wrong.

Anywho, just posting to let you know what I'm hearing a lot of.

It had nothing to do with what 2 letters were on your rig. We asked all trail participants the same question whether it was a cj yj or even a flat fender. No jk discrimination at all. The reason we asked about the lockers was due to the conditions. The new hills were entirely made of loam and had no hard base to them. The rain never really stopped, making the surface like grease. Because of the layout, extraction was difficult at the least. We had a nonstop line of people waiting to go through the course and had to make a judgement call on the situation. Could some vehicles with the right driver make it open open with the right tire/driver, yes. But without any knowledge of every individual how do you make that call. We simply tried our best to make a general rule to keep the event safe and keep everything moving. Towards the end of the day the access road out got real deep, to the point that most rigs got stuck and we needed the loader to get them out. This took the loader off the rock garden and left people stuck on that. When the road was rerouted, every person going by said they could have made it easily. How do you please everyone? We simply tried our best.
I led some of the "hard" groups through the day and had at least one jk in the group most of the time.
