New Steel poles at the Gutter

Postby PatriotJeep » Sat May 08, 2010 8:24 pm

There are new steel poles at the Gutter and the second half has been graded after lunch break rock.

The old wooden power line poles are gone and have been replaced by steel ones.

I have been driving that section of powerline for 20 years are we going to give up with out a fight?

 What is there to fight?

The power company has the right to upgraded their infrastructure. The power company has an easement through that property which allows them access which includes "improving" the access road.

Seriously Rich, you may have been driving this area for 20 years but you need to understand that not everything is a "fight".

Not only that but this is our last year on the property to begin with

:?
What exactly did you have in mind Rich? A fight against the power company that presumably has an easement over that privately owned property? They can do whatever they want to maintain/replace their poles, including grading their right-of-way.

Is "Lunch Break Rock" the same as "Embarrasing Rollover Rock"?

For those blissfully unaware (Rich), the state is placing (buying) a Conservation Restriction on the property. Cowls tried to get a stipulation on the CR to continue use of 4x4's on the property. The state refused to write it into the contract. I have been trying to convince the state using other trashed WMA's that this is not the appropriate route to take, but they are firm in their stance that all motorized users are the devil.

Rich is actually talking about the upgrades being performed on the high tension wire support structures from wood to steel.....Thanks Carl, ;) now Rich will be going to DEFCON 1 and send the ICBMs and Bombers to the offices of the landowner for a decision they made about their own property.

Same thing they did on the power lines near my place. You can drive a car down them now. Wrecked some awesome biking trails.

Well we are going to lose one more place. It's in the middle of nowhere
But the state does not want us. It's not like the greenie's even go there.
Why can't we drive the powerline? There is plenty of room. They can have
their access road and we can have ours. In 20 years have we ever done any damage to the poles? They were in no threat. We are tax payers too!

What does the powerline company say? Do they hate us? Will they work with us?

RSG is private property.
The power line company has an easement for their poles.
The land OWNERS have sold a conservation easement to the state, Rich. 2010 is the last season we can wheel there anyway.

Yes, we're losing permission to wheel there. The owners fought to keep it open to us but were given an ultimatum on the deal. No motorized use or no money for the easement. It was a multi-million dollar deal.

It's all done, Rich. RSG is closed in 2011 and if the power co ruins the trail in 2010 than it's over a little sooner.

The owners are not happy about it, either, but we can't financially compete. "Fighting" with the owners - our allies - would only hurt our opportunities with them elsewhere.

The Greenies recently lost a huge fight with the owners over the M&M Trail. The owners kicked their illegally cut trail off their property.

It's a loss, for sure, but it is done.

I thought MFW was very informative and non confrontational in his post.

I don't think anyone has been confrontational but like Paul said, its in one ear and out the other. No matter how non-confrontational MFW's post was, its adding fuel to Rich's "debate".

Rich continues to try and beat the war drums after Carl, Liza, and me post up about the situation.

Off the forum Bill Barne's tried explaining the situation to Rich and he was still wanting to "fight" this issue.

It's literally like talking to a brick wall, nothing gets in, nothing gets out.

Ask Joe O.

You ever meet someone that only hears exactly what they want to hear?

Then just lock the thread already. Otherwise it is just going to keep going in circles until we end up in a room again.

Rich, please do not do anything that will jepordize the relationship we have fostered with the landowner (Cowls.) As others have stated, there is nothing to "fight". This is strictly a business deal between the State, Land Trusts and the landowner. There is the potential to access other parcels.
