I signed up a while ago.
They're presenting a class for how to gain easements for trails on private property.

I registered. NOTE that there is a $40 registration fee. I am most interested in the "OHV Policy" session.

I think it would be great if we can get 8-10 people registered. Perhaps post a link to the registration page along with a brief blurb on the NEA Facebook page?

Less than a week to go. Who else is going? This is a great opportunity to be part of the SOLUTION. . .

"A recreational vehicle is any motor vehicle designed or modified for use over unimproved terrain, if used for recreation or pleasure off a public way. This term also includes all legally registered motor vehicles when used off a public way. Any motor vehicle registered under Chapter 90 will not be subject to registration under Chapter 90B, but must display a current motor vehicle registration.

These vehicles undergo a safety and emissions inspection. Depending on the size of your vehicle, you may need to call your inspection station before you go, to ensure the facility can accommodate your vehicle type."

I don't have much historical context but I found the OHV sessions at the conference informative and encouraging. Too bad that the 4x4 community was not well represented. If we want to make progress then we need people (plural) sitting at the table . . .

Stay tuned for a more complete report including copies of the presentations and some ideas for immediate follow up action.

Presentations from the conference are available here:

You may also download the OHV-specific presentations here:
OHV Recreation in MA
Great Trails Guidebook

The first presentation provides a current status of OHV recreation in MA and was presented by Assistant Secretary for Land and Forest Conservation Stephanie Cooper with assistance from Merri Walker and Scott Morrill.

The second presentation covers the "four E's" of effective trail management and was presented by Karen Umpress from the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council.
