Deep Woods Extreme

Wasn't sure where to post this but thought this would be a good place to start. Over the past year we've had some members comment on how they have heard some negative comments directed towards Deep Woods. I'm going to hope that these comments haven't been from fellow clubs in our community. Our club is known for having some of the "bigger boys" but that is how we choose to wheel. Our club is not completely made up of big dogs. We have members with all types of vehicles. I'm sure every club has their share of "throttle smashers"..so not sure why we get a bad rep for it. Our club has come a long way over our 15 years of existence and we do a lot to support our sport and the wheeling community. We practice responsible wheeling. Not that I feel we need to defend what we do but it bothers me a little that this kind of banter is getting back to us. There are different styles of wheeling and different clubs to accommodate those styles so everyone can wheel happily. Let's focus more on the good of the sport and working together to reach our common goals rather than nitpicking every little fault of "the other guy".

I have nothing but respect and admiration for Deep Woods Extreme. I also greatly appreciate ALL the hard work DWE has done for the NEA since the NEA's inception. The NEA was after all conceived right in Dom's shop with a small handful of clubs. Everyone wheels differently but that also goes along with vehicle type, build, dificulty level, etc.

Hmmm odd. This is news to me as well. [s]If I was a big dog[/s] If I had a rig, I'd join Deep Woods too.

We have a few dual members in FTR and Deep Woods as well.

Let me guess what could be the issue with DWE. I bet members of clubs are mad that all the new trails are set up for DWE vehicles. I say if you show up in your lesser modified vehicle to cut trails then you get trails that fit your vehicle. He who shows up to do the work gets to pick the trail difficulty.

I have not heard anyone complaining about DWE.

I used to joke about it years ago but never said anything bad..maybe a joke at a meeting like we used to.

I don't think I'm to blame but let me know if I am...and if it came from anyone in my club, which I seriously doubt, let me know and I'll talk to them.

I don't know who said the things we have heard and I don't mean to cause any trouble about it-just bothered me that things were said I guess. Kind of like when someone says something about your family-you want to take care of things...lol I even joke about the way we wheel but I guess some things were said that weren't in a joking manner and they came back to us. Just wanted to clear the air if the comments were made by anyone in our own circle of trust...lol I didn't want the newer clubs to think we represent the comments that were made if they should hear about it.

I have pointed out harder stuff on trail cuts we've done recently and said the DWE guys do stuff like that. More in aww then blasphemy. I know our guys have nothing but respect for DWE.

DWE isn't the only club that cuts and wheels hard trails.

Honestly I know the majority is cool and no need for a report of who has said what over the years. It is good to see that the words obviously didn't come from anyone we respect and have relationships with. Just one of those things that you can't make everyone happy and someone will find something to complain or point fingers at no matter what you do...lol

I never heard anything bad, either. When my XJ was in its infancy, guys from Dom's shop were helping out at the teeter totter and ramp at Katie's Ride and Dave let me try his personal property... Try.

I think the saying goes, "As slow as possible, as fast as necessary."
